Amplifying African Voices

Representation. Advocacy. Empowerment.

The African diaspora in the United Kingdom is vibrant, diverse, and growing. Yet, when it comes to decision-making spaces, public policy, and media representation, African voices are often marginalised, misunderstood, or missing altogether. At African Diaspora United Kingdom (ADUK), we are working to change that.

Through our Amplifying African Voices Project, ADUK represents and advocates for the interests, concerns, and aspirations of African communities—locally, nationally, and globally. We are committed to ensuring that the voices of African diaspora members, whether from North, Central, East, West, or Southern Africa, are heard, respected, and reflected in the decisions that shape our lives.

Our Mission

To empower African individuals and communities to engage with and influence public discourse, policy, and leadership in the UK and beyond.

We do this by:

  • Raising awareness about issues affecting African diaspora communities
  • Creating platforms for African voices to be shared and heard
  • Facilitating civic education, public speaking, and political engagement
  • Influencing public policy and institutional practices
  • Supporting leadership development within African communities

Our Focus Areas

🕵️ Civic and Political Engagement

We run civic education and voter awareness campaigns that:

  • Hosting town halls and community listening sessions
  • Submitting policy recommendations to councils and parliament

Assisted Living and Safe Environments

In parallel with amplifying our community’s voices in public life, ADUK also recognises the importance of creating safe, inclusive environments for vulnerable members of our community.

Through partnerships with social care providers, housing associations, and local authorities, we advocate for:

  • Safe and culturally competent assisted living options for elders and disabled members
  • Access to mental health services, housing advice, and legal aid
  • Creation of safe spaces for women, youth, and asylum seekers

Our aim is to ensure that everyone in our community feels protected, supported, and valued.
